Cancellation Policy

Safari changes and cancellations depend on timing, suppliers, and confirmed services.

This page gives general guidance. The exact cancellation rules for your trip should be confirmed in writing before you pay a deposit.

Important Confirm before paying

Lodges, domestic flights, park permits, mountain services, and special activities may have their own non-refundable or date-sensitive terms.

Before Confirmation

Unconfirmed inquiries can usually be changed without cancellation fees.

Before a booking is confirmed, Uwanda can normally adjust dates, route ideas, lodge category, group size, and comfort level subject to availability and updated pricing.

After Payment

Confirmed bookings may include non-refundable costs.

Once payments are made to secure services, cancellation charges may apply. These can include lodge deposits, domestic flights, permits, park-related fees, special activities, guide arrangements, and bank or card processing costs.

Date Changes

Changing travel dates is often possible, but not always free.

Uwanda will try to help move confirmed services to new dates where suppliers allow. Any price difference, amendment fee, seasonal supplement, or supplier penalty is normally the traveler's responsibility.

Travel Insurance

Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended.

Travelers should consider insurance that covers medical needs, cancellation, interruption, delayed flights, lost baggage, evacuation, and unexpected route changes.

Cancellation By The Traveler

All cancellations must be made in writing. The following charges apply based on how many days before departure the cancellation is received:

Notice Before Departure Cancellation Charge
60+ days before departure 50% of deposit forfeited
45–60 days before departure 100% of deposit forfeited
30–44 days before departure 80% of total cost forfeited
0–29 days before departure 100% of total cost forfeited

We strongly recommend obtaining travel insurance that covers cancellation, medical emergencies, and interruptions.

Cancellation By Uwanda Tours & Safaris

If Uwanda Tours & Safaris cancels a tour for any reason other than client default or force majeure, you will receive a full refund or be offered an alternative tour of equal value. We are not responsible for additional expenses incurred by travelers, such as international flights or visa costs.

Tour Modifications & Changes

Uwanda Tours & Safaris reserves the right to modify itineraries, transport, or accommodation in the interest of client safety, comfort, or circumstances beyond our control. You will be notified promptly of any major changes and may choose to accept the revised arrangements, book an alternative safari of similar value, or cancel your booking with applicable compensation.

Minor changes (e.g., timing adjustments or equivalent substitutions) do not qualify for compensation. No compensation is available for changes caused by force majeure events such as natural disasters, political unrest, or pandemics.
